Charcuterie – Rabbi Hanina 2, Jaffa

Published by at 12:40 pm under Restaurants

It took me a while, but I finally learned how to pronounce the name of this place correctly…

Jaffa is like a woman… Every year she looks better and more inviting than ever. The streets near the flea market are simply beautiful and pleasant, and restaurants and cafes and popping up everywhere.

Yesterday I went out with some friends. I was kind of worried that it would be too hot to sit outside, but there was a lovely breeze.

Most of the clientele is older, but cool – Tzipi Livni was at one table, Danny Gillerman and his stunning wife were at another table, journalist Raviv Drucker and his wife, also a journalist, were at another table, and there were many others…

The menu offers many types of pasta, fish and a 180-gram steak – a newly sized dish reminiscent of a child’s menu, but with adult prices. Let’s just say that an adult who orders that dish will not be satiated…

We also ordered two types of pasta and red striped mullet filets. All of the dishes were on the small side, tempting me to tell the waitress that the samples were fine and that we were ready for the real thing…

But the atmosphere is really fun. At some point they turned up the music and one of the hostesses broke out in a wild salsa dance.

On the way back to the car I enjoyed the amazing streets and buildings and decided that maybe some day, when I grow up, I’ll live there.
