This veteran establishment in northern Tel Aviv serves breakfast, sandwiches, salads, fish, meat, and an array of other dishes. Throughout the day, the background music changes, ranging from light jazz in the morning to chill out and lounge groove in the afternoon and evening.

I see that my learned friend has described every wine bar that he’s familiar with, so here’s another one…
On Shabazi Street, in Neveh Tzedek, across the street from its father – Jajo (the hottest place for a date) – is a small place with a bar that can host up to 18 people, and another bar that faces the street. The place is called Jajo Vino, and it meets the high expectations that go along with its name.

One of the best and well-known restaurants in the city opened five years ago in a beautiful old building in Jaffa. The dishes are based on the slow cook “poyke” method – in a South African cast iron pot – in order to utilize the spread of heat and roast the steaks in the best possible manner.
Even the restaurant’s famous dessert – hot chocolate cake – is baked in a poyke!!!

It took me a while, but I finally learned how to pronounce the name of this place correctly…
Jaffa is like a woman… Every year she looks better and more inviting than ever. The streets near the flea market are simply beautiful and pleasant, and restaurants and cafes and popping up everywhere.

The international culinary standard is constantly on the rise, and for quite some time a diverse menu or millions of dollars spent on design have not been enough to succeed in Tel Aviv’s uncompromising “Restaurant Championship” – that’s why God created takeaway. What we’re looking for today has much more to do with a place’s personality and soul; to lure us out of the house they have to understand that food is a form of entertainment that includes quality dishes, excellent service, good prices and most importantly an atmosphere that encourages a hearty appetite and libido. After all, food is the most sensuous thing there is.

I’ve liked this little, wooden, very very smoker-friendly place for a long time…
It’s a hybrid of a local bar with really good food, and on summer days when it’s harder to digest meat (not for me personally, but in general…) it’s so fun to spend an evening, or Saturday after the beach (for those who can muster the courage to go to the beach and get mauled by the masses and the kids throwing sand…) at a side table or on the bar…

Last Friday, when I got home at 7:00 A.M. after yet another crazy night out, I remembered that only a few hours prior I’d been at Rothschild’s Kitchen, with a bottle of white wine (Chardonnay – really good!) thinking to myself, “How fun, another calm night in the city.” Calm – yeah right. Though the place is like a café/bar/relaxed restaurant, with a great menu and beautiful décor, under the surface lies the hidden potential for a lot of alcohol, a young, dynamic atmosphere, a young, professional staff, fresh air and a fantastic location.
I should note that it’s good to know one of the staff members or owners, because then you get surprise chasers…
Like I said – everything starts at Rothschild’s Kitchen… and ends somewhere in the early hours of the morning…

When you walk into NG you realize that you need to clear your schedule for the next two to three hours. Turn your phone off and sink into the scent of excellent meat that surrounds you. And if you’re not careful, you may get hit by a smiling waiter galloping along with a huge tray of meat. NG has a winning formula that combines high quality meat, excellent boutique wines and a wide and diverse alcohol menu. All of these are available in a picturesque, European-style building with sexy and intimate lighting, a kind, professional staff and music that’s just right. All of these elements fit in perfectly with Neveh Tzedek’s romantic atmosphere.

This restaurant and bistro combines French cooking with original Moroccan flavors. Chef Avi Bitton surprises customers with his unique and satiating dishes, offered at reasonable prices. The restaurant has a nice, homely atmosphere and the staff is warm and professional (the chef comes out to check what’s going on and to flirt with the customers).
Don’t miss the desserts – they are excellent!!

Erez, an authentic Yemenite restaurant, is kosher and amazing. What food! It’s hard to walk through the area and not be drawn to the amazing aromas of Yemenite soup, rice and meatballs. Sooo good! You feel like Grandma Tziona cooked a Shabbat meal and gave it to everyone. And my choice of the word “gave” is not coincidental. The prices are ridiculous, and you almost feel uncomfortable. My wife and I have never paid more than NIS 70 for both of us! We were stuffed. They offer salads, pita bread, hummus, tehini, moussaka, meatballs, rice and vegetables, beans, soup and much, much more. Any combination you try will be cheap…
Don’t expect comfort and a beautiful décor. The tables are simple, both inside and outside, it’s narrow, the silverware is placed in the middle of the table, there’s noise from the customers, the kitchen and the staff and there’s a mishmash of smells. That’s its charm. It feels like home, combined with a warm, hearty eastern aroma. It’s not a place for a date or romance – just go there to eat.
Don’t miss the Yemenite soup and rice with meatballs.
Enjoy and save some for me…
